Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, California
Green Bay Packers are travelling to California to face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, for what many see as the main event of Week 12. Last time these two met was last season at Green Bay, where the Packers posted a 33-30 win over the 49ers.
The Packers are 8-2 and returning from a bye week, still sitting first in the NFC North. They won in 5 of their last 6 games, interrupted by a 26-11 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, but then bounced back with a 24-16 win against the Carolina Panthers.
Although Quarterback Aaron Rodgers isn’t at his best lately, posting only one touchdown pass with 394 yards in his last two games. But the 15-year veteran QB is still showing a good season, posting 2,718 passing yards for 17 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Rodgers has a 64.8% completion.
Packers Running Back Aaron Jones is hot this season, posting 2,478 yards and rushing for 11 touchdowns this season. There’s also Wide Receiver Davante Adams with 537 receiving yards in only 6 games this season. So Rodgers has a lot of possibilities and fire power with his offense.
Green Bay’s defense is not really bullet proof, ranked 14th in the NFL and allowing 20.5 points per game.
The 49ers are 9-1, with Russel Wilson and his Seahawks handing them the only loss of the season (27-24) earlier this month. They are still one game ahead of Seattle in the battle for first place in the NFC West. Last week, San Francisco bounced back to their winning ways this season, with an impressive 36-26 win against the Arizona Cardinals.
The game against Arizona was probably one of the best performances of 49ers’ Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, racking 423 passing yards for 4 touchdowns. This season, he posted 2,478 yards for 18 touchdowns, but also 10 interceptions.
Running Back Matt Breida, 49ers’ leading rusher with 542 yards didn’t play last week due to ankle injury, and isn’t confirmed for Sunday. If Breida is out, RB Tevin Coleman will need to pick up the yardage. Tight End George Kittle wasn’t fit to play last week due to injury, but is planned to play on Sunday, Kittle is 49ers second in receiving with 541 yards.
Although the Green Bay Packers have an 8-2 record, and probably one of the NFL’s best games on the ground, they are taking the road to challenge one of the league’s most dominating and powerful teams.
Final Score: 49ers to win 26-20 outright
Spread: 49ers -3 (41%) / Packers +3 (59%)
