NFL 2019

Week 14 of the NFL’s 2019 Season is upon us, with a month left for the regular season, and each squad needs to either continue winning, or start pulling some wins out of the bag in the last four weeks in order to secure a spot in the playoffs.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs look for revenge against the Tom Brady bunch from the New England Patriots.  The San Francisco 49ers will go head to head against the New Orleans Saints with the best league record on the line.  Russel Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks will try to keep their grip on the top spot of the NFC West, meeting the Los Angeles Rams who are still trying to hang in there.

And, Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson is still going to try and stay hot, facing the Buffalo Bills for yet-another stress test of his newly-shaped offensive line.  Once this week’s fire-hot action is out and the smoke clears, we should have a much better view of the NFL’s 2019 playoffs.

So without further ado, let’s check out the previews, picks and predictions for week 14.

Kansas City Chiefs at New England Patriots

Sunday, December 8, 2019 04:25 PM (ET)

Chiefs young Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is now 0-2 in both of his career games against Brady and the Patriots.  Still, many say that it’s a matter of time until Mahomes turns things around and finds a break in New England’s defense.  In both games, Mahomes rallied his team back from a point deficit to tie the score, and for the Patriots to win both games by a field goal.  So can this be Mahomes turn to win?

New England (10-2) and Kansas City (8-4) both have good records, but this is despite the Chiefs’ inconsistent plays, and the Patriots’ patchy defense.  It’s never going to be easy for an away Quarterback at Foxborough, Mass.  But Mahomes has been knocking on the Patriot’s defense door twice already, maybe this Sunday he will finally kick it down?

San Francisco 49ers at New Orleans Saints

Sunday, December 8, 2019 01:00 PM (ET)

The 49ers are travelling to face the Saints, for a showdown of two 10-2 season-record holders.  The 49ers pass defense is unbelievable this season, allowing only three opposing QBs to throw over 300 yards this season, with an average of 134.2 passing yards allowed per game.  San Francisco’s Cornerback Richard Sherman and Defensive End Dee Ford are questionable due to injuries.  So whether they will play or not will make a big difference in the 49ers ability to limit the Saints.

And, if San Francisco will be able to score against the New Orleans’ defense (allowing 20.7 points per game), this can be a nice comeback for the 49ers after last week’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills

Sunday, December 8, 2019 01:00 PM (ET)

The Ravens (10-2) are coming on the back of a win that is probably their biggest this season, against the San Francisco 49ers who are also flying.  Lamar Jackson found his paths to run on, and the Ravens’ defense also managed to block the 49ers strong offense.  This put the ravens at top of the AFC Playoff, and made Lamar Jackson’s offense a force to be recon with, and not storm passing by.

The Buffalo Bills (9-3) are also having a great season of their own, but will probably struggle with Baltimore’s attack that is run-intensive.  The Bills’ offense will probably put some points on the board, but this is expected to be Baltimore’s night.

Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Rams

Sunday, December 8, 2019 08:20 PM (ET)

The Los Angeles Rams are on a bit of a roller coaster lately, with an embarrassing 45-6 loss to the Ravens, to an impressive 34-7 win against the Arizona Cardinals last week, curtesy of Wide Receivers Robert Woods and Brandin Cooks’ return to the lineup.

Still, the Rams (7-5) shouldn’t be an even side to the Seattle Seahawks (10-2) who took over as NFC West division leaders.  So Seattle are tied with the 49ers, Patriots, Ravens and Saints for the best record in the NFL, and add to that their reputation as road warriors this season.  So this game will probably go Russel Wilson’s way.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Arizona Cardinals

Sunday, December 8, 2019 04:25 PM (ET)

With a 20-13 win last week over the Cleveland Browns, the Pittsburgh Steelers kept their playoff hopes alive.  However, if the Steelers (7-5) want to make it to the playoffs, they will need push hard and win this week as well, especially with the Tennessee Titans fighting for the AFC’s second wildcard spot.

The Cardinals (3-8-1) are struggling more this season, coming off a devastating, 34-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.  Arizona’s rookie Quarterback Kyler Murray looked very overwhelmed, so the Steelers’ defense that is ranked third overall should be able to apply the right pressure.  Still, Pittsburgh offense is very weak this season, so it’s not safe to assume that a win on the road is in the Steeler’s bag already.
